Third Industrial Revolution

Nowadays the world is changing drastically, and the humanity needs to adapt to the new context. We are living in the most significant known times of human history! History is being made in real time and most of us are not seeing it.

The technology is evolving very fast, world is being very abused with all the human competition for the resources and now, more then ever, the life on the planet is under threat.

New technology that can help us being more independent of the market are emerging very rapidly. I'm talking about 3D printing.

3D printing is not really new, but was never so accessible before like today, and the coming times are even more promising!

The tendency is that in a near future we can have a 3D printer in our homes, and we can print virtually any object, which is in a digital format, for example, on our hard drive or in the internet.
Since small common objects to prototype (or final pieces), is just about from the distance of a click. (Image 2)

People can design their peaces independently or they can download them from an free online database, like the existing "www.thingiverse.com" or "www.fabathome.org", which are both constantly growing and being updated by their users.

This projects are open source and they will have great impact in the market as their user communities grow. The time of the great factories may be coming to an end...

There are also DIY (do it yourself) open source projects to build 3D printers. "RepRap" is an example of it.

The best of "RepRap" is that it can replicate the most of its own parts to build another "RepRap". It is only necessary to purchase the electronics and metal parts.

3D Printed Houses

3D printing technology is just in its beginning. Some professionals are trying to scale it up to be able to print entire houses in just less than 2 days, with canalization and electrical installation!

You can see bellow a video presentation form Behrokh Khoshnevis talking about just that, recorded in a "Ted Talk" show.
